Safe Exchange Zones in Central PA
Due to the increased popularity of online marketplaces such as Ebay, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace, there is a growing trend towards face-to-face transactions with people you’ve only met online. To help the public conduct safe in-person meetings, police departments across the country are creating Safe Exchange Zones. We’ve compiled a list of all the safe exchange zones in Central Pennsylvania, including York and Lancaster Counties.
What are Safe Exchange Zones?
Safe Exchange Zones are clearly marked public places where people can schedule in-person meetings. Mostly used for online purchases, they are also ideally suited for child custody exchanges.

8855 Elizabethtown Road
Elizabethtown, PA 17022Sponsored by the Northwest Regional Police Department, this location is in the parking lot of the police department and municipal building. This safe zone was first set up in January 2018.
211 N. Charlotte Street
Manheim, PA 17545Sponsored by the Manheim Borough Police Department, this safe zone is located in the parking lot of the police department. It was announced in early 2017.
1240 Maple Avenue
Lancaster, PA 17603During regular business hours, the Lancaster Township Municipal Building permits in-person transactions to take place in their lobby or meeting rooms. Learn more about their policies and schedule with their PDF download.
1501 Mt Zion Road
York, PA 17402Sponsored by the Springettsbury Township Police Department, this safe zone is two parking spots with 24-hour monitoring. In addition, community members can use the lobby of the Springetsbury Township police department headquarters. This location was first announced in May 2016.
33 Oak Street
York, PA 17402Hosted by the York Area Regional Police, this safe zone is two parking spaces with 24-hour video monitoring. This location was first announced in April 2016.
2233 Gettysburg Road
Camp Hill, PA 17011Located in the parking lot of the Lower Allen Township Municipal Complex, this safe exchange area is well lit and monitored by video surveillance.
