Deed Transfers - Do-It-Yourself?

With the advent of the Internet and so-called legal services available over the Internet, some persons try to convey real estate by a deed without having their own attorney handle the transaction. Even the simplest transaction involving the transfer of a deed from mother and father to their son or daughter has tax implications, transfer tax implications, potential title problems, complexities relative to possession, and a plethora of other considerations. At Menges & McLaughlin, P.C. we can advise and represent you relative to tax matters, including those involving the United Stated Tax Court. These legal considerations vary tremendously from state to state, and, therefore, only an attorney licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and familiar with PA laws, procedures and practices can properly advise you on even the simplest real estate transaction. Buying, selling, refinancing or even just transferring from parent to child an asset worth $100,000 or more by yourself is not a prudent "do-it-yourself" project.
